1.Main Job Purpose
Anova Health Institute is implementing an Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) project aimed at improving the prevention, identification, monitoring, and management of AHD through improved guideline implementation, clinical decision support, clinician learning, and client engagement. The project will support implementation of South Africa’s updated National Consolidated HIV Guidelines, including the newly introduced AHD chapter, in two demonstration districts.
The role will oversee project start-up, stakeholder engagement, implementation, reporting and team management in Mpumalanga Province, ensuring alignment with funder and Department of Health (DoH) priorities and facilitating strengthened integration of services.
The incumbent will serve as the technical lead for advanced HIV disease in the province, while managing the project team to deliver high-quality, integrated interventions.

- Support project team to engage with DoH teams
- Ensure alignment of project with Anova and DoH policies and guidelines
- Utilise platforms such as TWGs, conferences, seminars to share project progress and stay informed of developments in the field

| Technical guidance and capacity building |
- Act as a technical expert on AHD, providing guidance to Anova and DoH teams
- Support the project team to deliver capacity-building activities for DoH staff to enable them to offer and support quality AHD services and deliver project interventions
- Support the team to strengthen AHD services
- Provide technical guidance on all elements of the programme, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
- Develop and adapt training and mentorship materials with the support of the technical team to meet provincial needs.

| Project monitoring & evaluation |
- In collaboration with M&E lead, ensure a robust M&E plan is in place to deliver on reporting requirements
- Ensure that project staff are capacitated on project reporting requirements and execution of the M&E plan
- Contribute to monthly technical reports and present project progress to internal and external stakeholders, including the DoH and funder.
- Work with the Public Health team to generate and disseminate learnings

- Oversee recruitment and appointment process to meet staffing needs
- Provide day-to-day line management of project team, overseeing their activities and reporting.
- Manage all HR-related matters for direct reports.
- Establish regular feedback meetings with project team and support professional development of project team as needed.

| Project Transition |
- Develop and implement a comprehensive handover plan to facilitate transition to the DoH and sustain services beyond the project period.
- Contribute to the development of next phase project planning, including documentation of lessons and planning reports
- Ensure all project documentation, final reports and assets are finalised and transferred to relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to a final project report for the funder, detailing achievements, challenges and lessons learned.

3. Qualifications and Experience
- Registered as a medical practitioner with the HPCSA
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the public/NGO sector encompassing ACC/AHD
- Proven experience in mentorship and stakeholder engagement in Mpumalanga Province
- Post-graduate qualification in public health an advantage
- Excellent report writing and data analysis skills and good understanding of funder-driven targets
- Valid driver’s license
