1.Main Purpose of the Job

To deliver high-quality, nurse-led, comprehensive HIV and primary healthcare services to men who have sex with men (MSM) and other key populations through facility-based and community mobile services at Anova’s Ivan Toms Centre, its mobile units, and other DOH sites as needed. The NIMART Professional Nurse will provide integrated clinical care across the HIV prevention and treatment cascade, ensure retention and viral suppression within allocated cohorts, uphold national clinical guidelines and quality standards, and contribute to client-centred, stigma-free services that strengthen health outcomes and continuity of care.

  1. Roles and Responsibilities
Key Performance Areas Tasks and Activities
Clinical Service Delivery, Cohort Management, and Retention Support 
  • Provide standard clinical services at the Ivan Toms Centre, its mobile units, or additional clinic sites as required, including HTS, ART, PrEP, PEP, STI and TB screening, and STI treatment.
  • Provide enhanced clinical services within their scope of practice including the prescription of medication, management of NCDs, mental health, and other conditions.
  • Provide other clinical services as requested and under appropriate supervision from the Senior Clinical Advisor as requested.
  • Ensure all clinical service delivery is conducted as per licensed scope of practice and/or under the oversight of the Senior Clinical Advisor
  • Conduct all clinical services in line with project and organizational Standard Operating Procedures and in adherence to the National Department of Health Guidelines and policies.
  • Provide clinical service delivery in accordance with established project performance targets.
  • Provide clinical oversight to your allocated client cohort to ensure viral suppression, PrEP continuation, and other clinical needs are addressed.
Clinical Oversight and Mentorship
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight to professional nurses in absence of Senior Clinical advisor, or when requested.
  • Act as the initial referral point for clinical guidance as defined by their scope of practice when requested by professional nurses and/or facilitate consults with the Senior Clinical Advisor
  • Manage clinical referrals and linkage to care to tertiary institutions and other providers within their established scope of practice and/or under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Advisor.
Quality Assurance and Routine Monitoring
  • Implement daily quality assurance and monitoring to ensure that all report targets and clinical service delivery conducted is accurate and reflected appropriately in reporting.
  • Provide clinical oversight to mobile and facility-based teams of non-clinical staff.
  • Conduct clinical quality assurance procedures, including rapid test continuous quality improvement, as required by project, organizational, and National Department of Health guidelines.
  • Maintain an up-to-date proficiency with current guidelines, required licenses, clinical practice, and standard operating procedures as required.
  • Manage allocated clinical practice spaces at Ivan Toms Centre, its mobile units, or at other clinical sites on a daily basis by adhering to all project and site procedures.
  • Ensure clinical services and practice are conducted in line with Health and Safety and Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain daily operational records and reconciliation for clinical materials, equipment, and medications and provide routine inventories as determined by the Senior Clinical Advisor.
 

Project Support and administration

             

 

  • Complete programme reporting and data management per established requirements and as requested. This includes but is not limited to: updating clinical records and registers and providing routine performance reports.
  • Support the training and capacity building of both clinical and non-clinical staff as well as other stakeholders.
  • Provide additional administrative, clinical, and programme support as and when requested as well as additional responsibilities delegated by managers from time to time.
  1. Qualifications and Exeprience
  • Proven experience providing competent clinical care for men who have sex with men or other key populations is required, with at least two years’ experience is preferred.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council is required.
  • NIMART trained and certified as competent to work independently is required.
  • Completion of dispensing certification course is required.
  • Experience working in target-driven, international funded environment is strongly preferred.
  • Previous PrEP implementation and training is highly advantageous.
  • Willingness to provide clinical services in facility as well as on community-based mobile units is required.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours is required
  • Ability to work independently with strong patient triage skills
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code 8) and willingness to travel as and when required
  • Computer Literate – MS Office Packages (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Ability and willingness to work with a wide variety of diverse team members and clients.
  • Excellent Communication skills and ability to speak one of the local languages
